Clackamas County Sheriff and other law enforcement officers responded about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a person shot at Macy’s. Within 6 minutes, police found empty shell casings at Macy’s, and were searching for the path of the shooter and indications of active shooting.

Police reported there was no active indication of an active shooter, but were finding bodies and empty shell casings and magazines.

Police learned that the shooter fired about 10 or 15 rounds and that his gun jammed near the upper level by Macy’s. Police were also trying to determine if there was more than one shooter. One person near a movie theater reported that there was more than one shooter, but a majority of witnesses near Macy’s reported only one shooter.

The last known 9-1-1 report of the location of the shooter was upper corridor 13 of Macy’s. A witness on scene told police searching for the shooter that he ran into the upper level of Macy’s Home Store.

Police reported seeing paramedics or other police administering CPR near a Best Buy store.

About 20 minutes into the incident, a police officer reported the apparent suspect down in Service Corridor 2 right at the corridor mall doors. He reported “S-1” (apparently suspect one) down with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and with a hockey mask and the assault rifle nearby.

Three people are reported dead, and four or up to seven people area reported injured at the Clackamas Town Center mall in Clackamas, Oregon. The shooter is reported to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No police officers fired any of their weapons. One person is reported to have been critically injured.

Police first received reports about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday that the offender was wearing a white hockey mask and a vest and possibly body armor. Witnesses reported that the offender walked into a Macy’s entrance and began shooting. The gunman walked north across the first floor to the food court, and continued shooting. The gunman moved to the second floor — possibly using a stairwell. An empty gun magazine was found at the Macy’s Home Store. Best Buy Mobile glass shot out. Witnesses report up to 60 shots were fired. The rifle used by the shooter has been described as an AR-15. The gun apparently jammed. A fully-loaded magazine was found on the floor after the area was secured.

Multiple ambulances and a Flight for Life helicopter responded to the scene along with numerous law enforcement officers.
