Charity Event at John Barleycorn to Support Schaumburg Firefighter Mike Solberg’s Battle Against Brain Cancer

Mike Solberg was sworn into Schaumburg Fire Department as a firefighter on October 11th, 2012. Just a few short weeks later he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

On November 2, 2012 Mike had surgery to remove a brain tumor and was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma (a serious form of brain cancer).

Schaumburg firefighters are hosting a fund-raising event at John Barleycorn, 1100 American Lane, Schaumburg on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Included at the event are the following:

$5.00 donation at the door to join friends, family, and fellow firefighters upstairs to watch the Bears play the Packers

-Gray Awareness Bracelets will be available for purchase at the event

-50/50 Raffle

-iPad raffle- $20/ticket (only selling 100 tickets)

-Squares for the game

-Good John Barleycorn Food (Order as much food and drinks as you please and John Barleycorn will be donating profits to the Solberg family.)

Mike is married to Maureen Solberg. They have a 21-month-old daughter, Emma. As a community, the fire department, friends and family hope to help the Solberg family out during this difficult time. ALL the proceeds will be donated to Schaumburg Firefighter Mike Solberg and his family in his fight against brain cancer.
