Two Alleged DUI Crashes Overnight in Arlington Heights: One on North Walnut Ave, One on West Hintz Rd

VIDEO: Two alleged DUI crashes overnight: Walnut Ave and Vine St, a car vs. utility pole; and the 800 block of West Hintz Rd, an SUV vs. parked car.

Arlington Heights police responded about 1:32 AM Saturday to a report of a car vs. light pole crash with no driver or passengers in sight at Walnut Avenue and Hawthorne Street. Police discovered a silver Pontiac Grand Prix facing southbound in the southbound lane of Walnut Avenue between Vine Street and Hawthorne Street. A police the park Police were checking the license plate registration and were searching the neighborhood for the driver. A young male subject arrived and asked what kind of car was in the crash. He told the police he had been at a party and that he was not driving.

Eventually a male was transported from the location in custody and charged with DUI, apparently the admitted driver of the vehicle.

About 4:08 a.m. police received a report of a hit-and-run in the 800 block of West Hintz Road. The driver fled in an SUV eastbound on Hintz Road. A witness reported seeing the vehicle driving away with sparks flying from the bottom of the car.

Police found a wrecked gray Chevy Trailblazer facing eastbound on Kingsbury Dr, just west of Walnut Avenue. The right front wheel was broken from the axle and positioned at a 90-degree angle. The male driver was arrested DUI and transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.
