Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:11 AM Sunday fire in a machine in produce section at Dominick’s, 720 West Euclid Avenue. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a machine in the produce section was sparking and flames could be seen.
Firefighters at the rear of the store reported heavy smoke. A small fire in a machine was extinguished. The fire was contained to the machine in the produce section and reported extinguished by 4:20 a.m.
Firefighters requested the health department to respond to the scene because of the fire and smoke conditions that occurred, and discharge of a dry chemical fire extinguisher in a food area.
Firefighters also immediately went to work to ventilate the smoke out of the building. Rolling Meadows firefighters also responded on an automatic response.
