No Injuries in ‘Skydive Midwest’ Plane Crash on I-94 Near Sylvania Airport South of Wisconsin Highway 20

Annie Scholz, of Milwaukee NBC affiliate TMJ4 reports on a small twin-engine plane crash on I-94 near Yorkville.

A small plane is reported to have crashed in the eastbound (southbound) lanes of Interstate 94 near Highway 20 (Washington Avenue). Two people are reported to be onboard and extrication was underway at about 7:05 p.m. Monday. A fuel leak was also reported. No injuries were reported from the crash.

Eastbound (southbound) lanes are closed. Westbound (northbound) lanes are open.

The plane apparently overshot Runway 8 at Sylvania Airport, which is just west of I-94 between Highway 20 and Highway 11. The Skydive Midwest Skydiving center is located at Sylvania Airport.

Skydive Midwest headquarters is based in Sturtevant, Wisconsin — just southwest of Racine and east of Sylvania Airport.
