The race for the U.S. Presidency has been struck by superstorm Sandy – which hit hard at America’s eastern seaboard. Political activist Tom Hayden says Sandy could pave the way for a vote-stealing presidential row – just days before the poll.

While the morning news talking heads discuss nonsense speculation about which presidential candidate will gain the most voters from the aftermath emotions of Hurricane Sandy/SuperStorm Sandy, a more sinister topic is lurking.

Political activist Tom Hayden says the storm damage could destroy the legitimacy of the election on the East Coast. He says early voting is being wiped out the hardest hit northeast cities and states. Particularly affected will be the voting of the elderly, the voting of the poor, and the voting of New Yorkers is likely to be diminished on election day.

The chaos may also make it easier to manipulate the computer results of the election, according to Tom Hayden. Serious political contention may arise after the election about the legitimacy of the election results.

Hayden, known as a radical activist, is director of the Peace and Justice Resource Center in Culver City, California. Known best for his major role as an anti-war, civil rights and radical activist, Hayden is the former husband of actress Jane Fonda

In January 2008, Hayden wrote an opinion essay for The Huffington Post endorsing Barack Obama’s presidential bid in the Democratic primaries. He was also involved in the startup of Progressives for Obama (now called Progressive America Rising), which is a group of political progressives that provided assistance for Obama in his first presidential campaign.
