Both the Palatine Fire and Police Departments are participating in the new statewide traffic safety initiative unveiled by the Illinois D.O.T. earlier this year. This life-saving program provides first responders with critical information to improve emergency care for persons involved in vehicle crashes. Yellow Dot participants are supplied with a bright yellow decal for their car and a corresponding yellow medical information folder.
The decal is placed in the lower left-hand corner of their vehicle’s rear window and the folder is placed in the glove compartment with all of the driver’s important medical information. In the event of an accident, this information allows first responders to make important decisions regarding emergency medical treatment. There is NO COST to participate. Yellow Dot packets are available for free and can be picked up at the Palatine Police Department; 595 N. Hicks Road, Palatine, IL, 24 hours a day. More information on this program can be found at http://www.yellowdotillinois.org.
