Evanston police and firefighter/paramedics responded Wednesday afternoon to the 1100 block of Oak Avenue to a report of a Pit Bull attack. An elderly woman was walking her Labrador retriever mix, when the dog was attacked by the pit bull. When the woman tried to separate the doge, the pit bull bit her multiple times in the leg.

When police arrived, the bit bull had cornered the Labrador mix into a corner in a vestibule, and already bitten the woman. Police observed the pit bull was still attacking Labrador mix and shot the pit bull.

The woman’s Labrador-retriever mix suffered bites to the neck, back, shoulder and leg.

Evanston police and the animal warden are investigating.
