Charlotte Motor Speedway Dwarfs the DNC in Charlotte, North Carolina

While politics is on the mind of current visitors to Charlotte, North Carolina, more than a million visitors to this region every year come to watch NASCAR, the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing at the nearby speedway.

Speedway attracts 1.5 million fans every year. The next big event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway is the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals September 14, 2012 to Sunday, September 16, 2012.

According to Democratic officials, they are moving President Barack Obama’s convention speech Thursday from outdoors at the Bank of America stadium to indoors at the Time Warner Cable Arena because of the possibility of severe weather. Obama had planned to accept his party’s nomination in a football stadium before a large crowd.

According to a DNCC spokesman, about 65,000 people with community credentials already activated their credentials, but only 21,000 will be able to attend at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

President Barack Obama ditched plans to deliver his speech at an outdoor stadium, citing iffy weather for Thursday. With a chance of thunderstorms on the horizon, Obama will accept his party’s nomination at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

Republican pundits are claiming that the decision to move from the larger venue, was really due to a fear of low turnout that leave the stadium embarrassingly empty.
