After Chick-Fil-A being on the radar regarding LGBT issues for a couple of years, a controversy sparked in Chicago when Chicago 1st Ward Alderman Proco “Joe” Moreno announced his determination to block Chick-Fil-A’s bid to build a second store in Chicago: “They’d have to do a complete 180,” Moreno said in outlining conditions under which he would retract the block. “They’d have to work with LGBT groups in terms of hiring, and there would have to be a public apology from COO Dan Cathy.” Moreno received backing from Chicago’s Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, who added, “Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values. They disrespect our fellow neighbors and residents. This would be a bad investment, since it would be empty.”

Alderman Proco Joe Moreno has also been working to introduce a transgender police ordinance that would set policy for police interaction with transgender detainees. If passed, the ordinance would establish a mayoral-appointed, 11-person volunteer commission to oversee Chicago Police Department compliance with the policy. Six of its members would be representatives of the transgender community, and five members would represent the Chicago Police Department. Members would serve four-year terms.

FNNO says Chick-Fil-A is shedding supporters, but August 1, 2012 is promoted by Fox News Host and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as National Chick-a-fil-A Appreciation Day.

Chick-A-Fil Appreciation Day 08.12.2012

Yesterday, tens of thousands of people across this country were lining up and joining in to Support Chick fil-A, (committing to take part in the August 1st Appreciation Day), and as momentum was growing at a record pace, something interesting happened…All of the sudden, EVERYTHING related to Chick fil-A Appreciation Day disappeared from Facebook! That’s right in one big flash it was gone like the Eiffel Tower during a David Copperfield Show and then 12 hours later we were back in business like nothing ever happened.

Well it seems we caught a 12 hour bug, apparently it hits when large numbers of Christians support something and post about it on Facebook! Have you heard about this bug?

We still aren’t sure why it happened, we have been told by Facebook “it was a mistake”, clearly we think it was a mistake too but aren’t so convinced it was an accident.

Could it be we were attacked because of our beliefs? Could it be that Facebook has a glitch in their system with a VERY NARROW target? Who knows if we will ever know for sure, but one thing we do know for sure is that we are back up and running and we need your help to keep this going. We have one week until Chick fil-A Appreciation Day and that is a long time to get others involved. Don’t stop inviting your friends, tell them why it is important to you and get them on board. So we got knocked down, but hey! WE ARE BACK UP!

  1. A Chick-fil-A in Logan Square wouldn’t be empty…And why does Cathy need to apologize? I think Moreno and Emmanuel have opened a can of worms they’ll be sorry for. imo.
