VIDEO: Van fire at apartment complex on East Central Road.

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to a vehicle fire in a van parked at the Central Park East Apartments, in the 1500 block of East Central Road. Police arrived first and reported a well-involved van fire which was spreading to a tree, and then a vehicle parked next to the van.

The van was apparently a carpet cleaning van with chemicals in the back of the van. Wind was from the east and an acrid odor was carried with smoke westward across the apartment complex property. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Minor damage occurred to a Honda vehicle parked next to the van.
