#ad▼

Schaumburg police responded about 9:00 p.m. Wednesday to a report of shots fired in the area of Knollwood and Golfview, and Knollwood and Pennview.

Police received a report that offenders were in a gray or silver Chevy Impala or Malibu, or an all white Pontiac fled the scene after driving over the sidewalk. The car was occupied by several male/black subjects. The vehicle was last seen eastbound from the area of Golf and Walnut. An updated report states the vehicle was last seen northbound Windsong from Pennview.

No reports of any injuries or shooting victims after police arrival on the scene. Police are investigating witnesses in the area.

The area around the scene is shut down to preserve the crime scene — expect road blocks in the area. Evidence technicians have been called to the scene.

Witnesses in the area reported about 50 people were in the park just before the shooting. A male/Hispanic subject came out of the park and talked to at least two male/black subjects in the offending vehicle. Heated words were exchanged, and a mirror was damaged by the male/Hispanic subject. A shot was fired by the passenger in the vehicle toward the male/Hispanic subject. Then about five shots were fired in the air in the direction, over the crowd in the park near the intersection.
