Garden Apartment Fire at 12 Oaks Condo on Perrie Drive, Elk Grove Village

Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:16 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a fire in the 900 block of Perrie Drive in a downstairs apartment. Police were on the scene within a minute and reported a fire on the first floor of the 930 building. Firefighters on the scene within five minutes reported a fire in a three-story garden apartment.

The fire was reported struck out about 5:34 a.m. with primary searches all clear on the first and second floor by that time.

Des Plaines firefighters assisted Elk Grove Village firefighters. The fire was upgraded to a working fire — Code 4 — about 5:28 a.m. which brought Itasca firefighters to the scene.

Mount Prospect firefighters also were on standby at an Elk Grove fire station.
