Off-Duty Police, Target Store Security in Foot Pursuit Catch Retail Theft Suspect in Front of Hersey High School

Arlington Heights police responded about 10:26 a.m. Monday to a report of a retail theft in progress at Target, 1700 Rand Road. Police received a report from a third-party caller that an off-duty Arlington Heights police officer and a Target security staff member were in a foot pursuit with a retail theft suspect, east and south of the Target store.

The offender was described as a male/white subject with long blond hair wearing a tie dye hat, jeans, and carrying a backpack.

The suspect was captured north and east of the Target in front of John Hersey High School about 10:30 a.m. Monday. Prospect Heights police assisted Arlington Heights police.

Police transported one male juvenile in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.
