Residents of State Street Condo Told To Leave Chicago During NATO Summit: MyFoxCHICAGO.com

Chicago residents and owners of the Library Tower condo building — a 17-story building at 520 South State Street (between Congress and Harrison) — are being advised to leave their residence and live at an alternate site during the NATO Summit from May 19 through May 21, 2012.

Letter to Library Tower Owners and residents from Property Manager

You may be aware that Chicago will be hosting the 2012 NATO Summit May 19th through May 21st. During the Summit there will be multiple street closures and rerouted and canceled buses and trains. We are being told the final information will probably not be released by the Secret Service until days before the Summit. We do know the City has approved a protest route on Sunday May 20th that would begin with a rally at Petrillo Band Shell and skirt the Loop as protesters head west on Jackson, south on State Street, east on Harrison and south on Michigan Avenue to McCormick Place. Given past protest in other cities and the potential for violence and damage, we are advising all residents that the Association is making the following recommendation and taking the following precautions:

We are STRONGLY recommending that all residents find alternative places to stay during the conference from May 18th through May 21st

We are also STRONGLY recommending that you don not have any guests over during this time including dog walkers and cleaning companies. Access to the area and the building will be VERY LIMITED.

The City of Chicago approved protest route is currently scheduled to take place on Sunday from the Petrillo Band Shell in Grand Park past Library Tower on State Street to McCormick place. The date and exact time the protesters are expected to arrive are not yet determined.

There will be two armed off duty police officer in the building to help ensure everyone’s safety.

The revolving door will locked on Friday morning. Key FOBs will be required to enter the building and all residents will be required to show identification to these officers when entering the building. Please have a photo ID readily available to access the building.

The rear exit into the alley will be restricted to emergency egress only. Residents will be required to enter the building from State Street or the garage.

There will be absolutely no deliveries or moves permitted between Friday, May 18th and Monday, May 21st.

There will be NUMEROUS street closures around the building, which will inhibit the entrance and exit of the building from the garage.

In the event of a riot or the potential of one near the building, all access doors will be locked in including the garage door. For everyone’s safety we will be instructing anyone in the building to stay in his or her unit.

The Park will be closed and locked between Friday morning, May 18th and Monday evening, May 21st.

The Roof Top Terrace, THeater Room and Hospitality Suite will be closed Friday morning through Monday evening.

A member or members of the Management Staff will be on site during the dates of the Summit …
