UPDATE: EPICENTER REVISED.

Last night the USGS reported that a magnitude 2.4 earthquake shook from an epicenter just to the east of George Lake in Bristol, Wisconsin — about 11 miles west-southwest of Kenosha, Wisconsin and about 14 miles northwest of Waukegan at 9:54:43 CST.

Chicago’s north and northwest suburban police departments reported receiving a number of phone calls from residents feeling the quake. No word on any reports to Arlington Heights police, and there are no early reports of injury or damage.

This morning the epicenter has been revised to just east of McHenry.

As of ‘just before midnight’ most personal reports to United States Geological Survey came from McHenry (111), Wauconda (25), Round Lake (12), Fox Lake (11), Cary (9), Antioch (9), Ingleside (7), Woodstock (6), and Barrington (8). Two people reported feeling the earthquake in Arlington Heights. Reports from Wisconsin were in the one-to-two range — much less than Illinois reports.
