Buffalo Grove police received a report about 8:42 p.m. Friday that a silver Honda CRV took out a street sign and was crashed into a snow bank on Half Day Road near Buffalo Grove Road. Police arrived and discovered a large street sign in the road, but the vehicle was not long on the scene. Meanwhile, Buffalo Grove and Lincolnshire police received multiple calls about a reckless driver traveling the wrong way in lanes of Milwaukee Avenue — heading southbound. A Lincolnshire police officer witness the vehicle pass southbound at a high rate of speed. About 8:51 p.m. Friday Buffalo Grove police received a report that their vehicle that crashed on Half Day Road was likely involved in a head-on crash in front of Cubby Bear on Milwaukee Avenue.
The head-on crash involved three vehicles in front of Cubby Bear North, 21661 North Milwaukee Avenue. A silver Honda CRV, dark green Toyota sedan, and a Jeep SUV were found crashed in the middle of Milwaukee Avenue.
Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD firefighter/paramedics responded and transported crash victims to area hospitals. One victim was transported with life-threatening injuries and is listed in critical condition.
Police were investigating the crash scene with Milwaukee Avenue closed past midnight. Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team was investigating the Milwaukee Avenue scene and the Half Day Road scene.
