Chicago Bears President and CEO Ted Phillips informed Jerry Angelo Tuesday morning that he will not return as the team’s general manager for the 2012 season.

Jerry Angelo was hired in 2001 and led the Bears to four division titles, two NFC Championship Game appearances and a Super Bowl appearance in 2007 in his 11-year tenure as head of football operations. The announcement comes two days after the Bears finished 8-8, and the fourth time in five seasons the Chicago Bears had not reached the playoffs.

No other changes have been announced as of Tuesday.

The Bears will hold a press conference today at 4:00 pm (CT) at Halas Hall.
