Wheeling-based Garden Fresh Market is expected to close on March 4, according to a notice sent by the company to The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Rumors about the store closing have been spreading since a sign was posted that the store would be closed for remodeling on March 4, 2012 — even though the store just completed a a remodeling project about one year ago.
The 60,000 building at 600 East Rand Road, Arlington Heights was a Cub Foods before that business closed in 2006. Garden Fresh took over in December 2006.
Competition is tough in the area with an Aldi, Dominck’s, Jewel-Osco, Harvest Fresh, Mariano’s, and Trader Joe’s all within a short distance.
