Protesters staged occupations across the United States this morning as part of a coast-to-coast day of action aimed to shut down shipping ports all over the US. Starting in the early morning hours, demonstrators waged protests up and down the West Coast in one of the most wide-impact attacks on the one percent yet. Ali Winston, Ramon Galindo and Lucy Kafanov weigh in from California and DC to discuss the events of the day.

In New York, protester carried a giant squid float in reference to a 2009 article by a Rolling Stone writer, Matt Taibbi, in which he described the bank as “a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money.”

Ports on the target list of protesters include Anchorage, Vancouver, Tacoma, Seattle, Longview, Portland, Oakland, Los Angeles, Port Hueneme, San Diego, and Maui.
