Hit-and-Run Crash at Algonquin Rd and Route 53; Driver Flees on Foot, Captured by Off-Duty Police

Rolling Meadows police responded about 11:06 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a hit-and-run property damage crash on westbound Algonquin Road and Route 53. Police received a report that the driver of the offending vehicle fled on foot and was apprehended within a minute. An off-duty police officer was on the scene and chased the offender on foot and stopped the offender, who was then uncooperative.

Rolling Meadows police arrived and determined the crash was in the jurisdiction of the Illinois State Police, who responded to the scene also. One female in custody.
