Theft in progress/just occurred:
Schaumburg police responded about 1:55 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a strong arm robbery of two victims in a Woodfield Mall parking lot. At least one of the locations was described as near pole M5. Police determined there was no communication with the victims, and classified the crime as a theft instead of a strong arm robbery. The offender took purses and shopping bags.

The offender was described as a male/black about 6’1″ average build, 26-years-old, wearing a black baseball hat with red writing, black hoodie, a black puffy coat, blue jeans and sneakers. The offender possibly fled west and south toward Higgins Road. He may have fled in a gold Saturn.

A man in his car chased the offender, who dropped some or all of the items he took. The items were fingerprinted, photographed by Schaumburg police and returned to the victims.

Police were searching the area after the theft.
