Google has record of preferring a clean look to the search engine interface. The leading search engine apparently doesn’t want too many stray links all over the page. Late September, the cache link disappeared. The google cache shows a snapshot of a web page the last time Google bots crawled through. The cache is useful when websites are too busy to view the live version, or when a person wants to see paragraph or item that has since been edited in the live version.
On Chrome and Safari browsers, and possibly others, a user doesn’t see the cache link until the mouse is hovered over the search result item and the two right-arrows that pop up to the right of the search result item that points to a preview page … and a the cache link.
