Abdul Yasin, 24, was killed after he apparently lost control of his motor scooter in the 1600 block of North Lake Shore Drive, Chicago about 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Yasin was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy is scheduled for today.
The name is not to be mistaken with a man who was listed on the FBI’s top 22 Most Wanted Terrorists on October 10, 2001. Abdul Rahman Yasin, 51, is known for helping to make bombs used in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing attack, and is believed to be the only participant involved in the bombing that was not captured or incarcerated. He was picked up by the FBI for investigation of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, and was released after giving agents names and addresses. He is still believed to be in Iraq.
