Severe Thunderstorm Watch and Flood Advisory with Storms on the Way

UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm watch #829 and the Flood Advisory for Saturday has been canceled for the entire Chicago Metro area. A Rip Current Statement is still active Sunday.

Radar images show that the precipitation, while persistent and covering a wide area, has diminished. Originally about two inches of rain were forecast for Saturday night.


Storms were more severe in Indiana and Michigan were Michigan, Western Michigan games were ended late in the third quarter, and Notre Dame’s game was delayed twice for a total of about two hours.Weather radar indicates a large area of thunderstorms with the leading edge just crossing the western edge of Du Page County. The storms closest to northwest suburbs are moving from southwest to northeast. The leading edge of storms which extends back to Iowa is expected pass through Arlington Heights between 5:40 p.m. and 5:55 p.m. About 2 inches of rain are expected in the next couple of hours.
