Prospect Heights Police Plan to Re-Hire 5 of 6 Laid-Off Officers

#ad▼

Prospect Heights is expected to have an additional two full-time police officers and three part-time police officers within two weeks. According to Police Chief Jamie Dunne, the additional officers will be selected among officers who were recently laid off last November. Six officers were laid off because of budget problems — leaving only nine patrol officers, four sergeants, two commanders and a police chief to cover the City of Prospect Heights with a population of about 16,000.

The personnel increase represents a campaign promise of Prospect Heights Mayor Nick Helmer, while the details represent the idea of Police Chief Jamie Dunne, who left the Buffalo Grove Police Department to take on the responsibilities and challenges facing the Prospect Heights Police Department.
