Purse Snatchers with Red Ford Explorer May Have Struck Again in Des Plaines

Des Plaines police responded about 4:55 p.m. Saturday to a report of a theft of a purse at the Hilton Garden Hotel, 2930 River Road. Two offenders in a red Ford Explorer with a temporary registration and a broken tail light were involved in the theft of a reddish-orange purse from inside the hotel.

The driver is described as a male/black.

The passenger/offender is described as a female/black 5’4″ small build, wearing a black and gold printed jacket and jeans. The red Ford Explorer was last seen heading southbound on River Road heading toward Devon Avenue.


Two offenders were involved in a robbery of a purse with a physical attack of the victim on Wednesday about 6:00 p.m. at the Extended Stay, 1200 block of East Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines. The getaway vehicle was also a red Ford Explorer and the two offenders in the Explorer had similar descriptions.

The location of the hotels are a little over 1.5 miles apart in a straight line measurement.
