An outburst in a Springfield, Massachusetts courtroom Tuesday left a packed room stunned. Twenty-six-year-old Orland Ocasio jumped over the bench and a table screaming and ran straight at the judge before he was tackled by court officers.

Orlando Ocasio was in Springfield District court being arraigned after an arrest Monday in West Springfield, Massachusetts on a charge of possession of cocaine. Ocasio sat quietly in court waiting for his arraignment and walked to the defendant’s bench.

Ocasio was on probation on another case, and was ordered held without right to bail for violation of probation by Judge William J. Boyle.

When court officers moved to handcuff him, Ocasio evaded them and pounded on the desk of Robert L. Marino, the District Court assistant magistrate who was running the session. During the struggle repeatedly yelled, “Leave me alone!” He was tackled and restrained

Camera crews were at the courtroom waiting for the arraignment of another defendant.
