Telephone Fraud Reported: Big Money Promised If Check for $250 Sent

Arlington Heights police received a report in the past week of a possible telephone fraud case when an unknown company offered a male resident millions of dollars if he sent them a check for $250. He knew it was a scam but continued to speak with the offender. The call came from numbers in Jamaica and another call came from Zimbabwe. The caller had a very thick accent and was difficult to understand.

Another resident received a similar call Wednesday from a possible offender with a Jamaican accent who used profanity when the recipient of the call would not hand the phone to the person the offender was requesting by name.
