Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics and police responded to a report about 5:50 p.m. Saturday of flames coming from a chimney and smoke coming from a house in the 700 block of North Dryden.

Firefighters arrived and saw light smoke coming from the roof of a large two-story home. Apparently creosote was burning somewhere in the chimney, but no fire was seen at the roof when firefighters arrived. Firefighters raised the ladder tower platform to thoroughly inspect the chimney cap and roof. No fire was visible. Firefighters also inspected the fireplace and chimney after extinguishing the fire in the fireplace.

No hydrant hookup was necessary. No injuries were reported. Dryden was blocked for about 45 minutes.
