William Spears Struck by Car, Killed After He Walks Out of Nursing Home on Euclid Ave

Mount Prospect police, Prospect Heights police and Prospect Heights firefighter/paramedics responded to Euclid Avenue and Mulberry just before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car near the intersection in front of Brighton Gardens of Prospect Heights.

Police closed down Euclid Avenue in both directions at Wheeling Road and east of the crash scene. Both lanes of westbound traffic were closed for an unconscious man in the roadway.

The man was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:37 p.m. Tuesday. The victim was identified as William Spears, 80, a resident of the nursing home nearby.
