Two Cars in Opposite Directions Hit Dark Train Tanker Cars at Halsted Just North of 91st Street

Chicago police, firefighters and paramedics responded to a crash involving two cars that hit dark tanker cars at a Halsted crossing involving two lanes each way. The train gates and flashing light were not functioning at the time at the railroad crossing just north of 91st Street.

Four victims were injured. Three people were injured with life-threatening injuries. To patients were transported to Level I Trauma Center John H. Stroger Hospital and two were transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ in Oak Lawn.

The tanker cars were transporting denatured alcohol. None of the cars were leaking.

No delay to Metra trains is reported related to the accident.
