SURVEILLANCE VIDEO: Russell Wheat Arrested After Dragging Frankfort Police Officer Byron Redmon with Pickup Truck

A Frankfurt, Kentucky store surveillance camera caught an accused drunk driver dragging a police officer alongside his pickup truck.

On February 4 about 5:15 p.m., an incident was caught on a store surveillance camera, when Frankfort (Kentucky) police officer Byron Redmon pulled over Russell Wheat, 49, at a gas station for a suspected DUI case. Russell Wheat, kept driving the truck as the police officer continued to try and hold onto the truck’s door. The truck slammed into another car before it sped away, injuring Officer Redmon. The extent of the injuries are not known.


Wheat abandoned the car at Schenkel Lane and Colonial Trace in a mobile home park, and was found hiding in the woods a few hours later.

The man accused of dragging a Frankfort police officer with his pickup truck has plead not guilty.

Wheat faces assault and several other charges.
