Snow Cover Drops to 8 Inches, Temps Stay Well Above Freezing Overnight

#ad▼

Temperatures hovered around 40°F most of the night with steady winds holding above 15 mph and gusting 25 mph to 38 mph. Weather conditions are good for rapid melting of snow with high winds increasing the sublimation of the snow.

Sublimation involves the direct conversion of water from the solid state (snow) to water vapor in the air. Sunlight plays a large role in sublimation, as it helps with heating the snow via direct sunlight. The skies are forecast Clear, Mostly Sunny and Partly Cloudy for most of today.
