Fire at Mont Belvieu, Texas Petroleum Facility Near Exxon Mobil Corp.’s Baytown Petrochemical Complex

A fire erupted at a petroleum plant east of Houston, sending balls of orange flame and thick black smoke into the sky. A Mont Belvieu police dispatcher said there were no reports of injuries or evacuations.

Exxon Mobil Corp.’s Baytown petrochemical complex reports a “limited impact” to operations from a fire at Enterprise Product Partners LP’s Mont Belvieu natural gas liquids processing facility.

Exxon Mobil’s Baytown, Texas complex, which consists of the nation’s largest refinery, is 11 miles from the Enterprise Products Partners Mont Belvieu facility, where according to the company’s website, the facility “fractionates” mixed natural gas liquids (NGLs) from several major NGL supply basins in North America including the Mid-Continent, Permian, San Juan, Rocky Mountains, East Texas and the Gulf Coast.”
