Surveillance Video Shows Violent Purse Snatchers Dragging 78-Year-Old Woman with Large SUV in South Daytona, Florida

Police in South Daytona, Florida say they’ve arrested two suspects in a violent purse snatching. Investigators released surveillance video of a 78-year-old being dragged through a parking lot.

Two Females Arrested
South Daytona police arrested Lacey Joan Robertson, arrested Tuesday night at Stewart-Marchman-ACT Behavioral Healthcare Center, 1200 Red John Road, Daytona Beach. Robertson was charged with robbery by sudden snatching.

Sarah L. Higbee, 25, was arrested Wednesday morning at 424 S. Greenway Drive in Port Orange and also faces a charge of robbery by sudden snatching.

Police say Lacey Joan Robertson was the driver of the vehicle that fled from the Dollar General store parking, 2016 S. Ridgewood Ave., after Higbee in the passenger seat grabbed the 78-year-old woman’s purse from a shopping cart at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim ran after the SUV and hung on for a few feet before falling to the ground. The woman suffered a broken ankle, bleeding on the brain, and head and facial injuries.


Daytona Beach News Journal: Longer video showing driver of BMW passing by without aiding the fallen woman, and then pedestrian bystanders and four police units arrive to help the woman.

Police received an anonymous tip that Roberston had voluntarily checked herself into the ACT Behavioral Healthcare Center, and followed up for the arrest.
