POLICE SEEK INFORMATION ON HOME INVASION SHOOTING
Masked Gunmen Attack Brothers In West Suburban Cook County

Police are seeking information on a violent home invasion in LaGrange Highlands subdivision, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced Wednesday.

On January 2nd, around 10:30 p.m., the Cook County Sheriff’s 911 dispatch center received an emergency call about a possible home invasion in progress in unincorporated Lyons Township. Patrol officers responded to the home, on the 5600 block of Howard Avenue, along with officers from Indian Head Park and Countryside Police Departments.

When they arrived, officers found the victims, ages 25 and 27, injured inside the house, with spent shell casings on the floor. One man was shot in the upper chest. He was taken to Loyola Hospital by the Pleasantview Fire Department, and is in serious but stable condition. His brother was hit in the head with a blunt object and was treated and released at LaGrange Community Hospital.

The victims told police three masked gunmen entered their residence, ordered them to the floor, and a struggle ensued. During the attack, the first victim was shot, and the other struck in the head. After wounding the victims, the gunmen fled. Police believe the motive was robbery.

A canvass of the area with canine and patrol officers along with a police helicopter yielded negative results. Police also conducted a door to door canvass of adjacent homes in an unsuccessful attempt to locate possible witnesses. Investigators do not believe this was a random attack and continue to seek the cooperation of the victims in this case.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Cook County Sheriff’s Office at 847-635-1188. Tips can be anonymous.
