Ruse Attempted Burglary? Two Males Tell Homeowner Chimney is Cracked on North Haddow

#ad▼

Arlington Heights police responded about 3:10 PM Thursday to a report of a possible ruse burglary attempt in the 900 block of North Haddow Avenue. Police received a report that two male/Hispanics drove up to a residence and came to the door. One of the males said his brother wanted to talk to the homeowner because his father did work on the roof and that he noticed that the chimney was cracked.

The homeowner refused any further work and reported the incident to the police.

The subjects were reported to be driving a gray pickup truck with a tarp on the bed.

At least three other ruse incidents have been reported in the past week — two in Arlington Heights and one in Buffalo Grove. Arlington Heights police are investigating.
