Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:50 PM Saturday 11/6/2010 to an auto accident at the intersection of Kirchoff and Meadow — an SUV crashed onto a utility pole and brought down power lines. The downed power lines arced and caused a brush fire, which was extinguished by 6:05 p.m. The power lines were still live at 6:05 p.m.

Minor injuries reported at the crash when paramedics checked the driver. A female driver was transported to Northwest Community Hospital. Arlington Heights police sent a Spanish language translator to the scene to communicate with the driver.

A power outage is reported in the area with police and firefighters responding to numerous activated alarms caused by electric power interruption, and one person trapped in an elevator. Traffic signals were dark at Kirchoff and Route 53, Kirchoff and Frontage.

Com Ed responded urgent to the scene and arrived at about 6:15 p.m. Com Ed crews were checking a wide area near the crash scene before completely shutting off the local power and repairing the lines.

Streets were re-opened about 8 p.m. Saturday.
