Man Bites Dog After Yelling to Police He Needs a Bag of Dust in West Haven, Connecticutt

West Haven, Connecticutt Police Officer Scott Bloom was on patrol with his K-9, Onyx, early Thursday morning when Roderick Lewis yelled out, “I need a bag of dust!” near the Rite Aid on Elm Street. Lewis was referring to angel dust, or PCP, according to police.

Roderick Lewis, 23, walked toward the officer and reached into his waistband. Officer Bloom officer grabbed Lewis’s arms and told him to stop. Then Lewis punched officer Bloom in the face, his his K-9 Onyx jumped on Lewis gripping his leg with the his dog jaws. Then Lewis bit the dog back and wouldn’t let go, until Officer Bloom was able to pull Lewis off of the dog.

Roderick Lewis in custody, charged with assault of a police officer, disorderly conduct, and cruelty to an animal.

All were treated for their injuries.
