Arlington Heights police responded to a burglar alarm and discovered smoke and a burning smell coming from inside Erdmann Construction Company in the 700 block of Algonquin Road. Upon arrival, firefighters reported smoke coming from the eaves and water flowing out of the dock area of the commercial building where Erdmann Construction is located. After firefighters entered the building, they reported a small fire in the dock area. Firefighters reported the fire was out at about 8:35 a.m. Apparently sprinklers helped keep the fire from spreading.
