Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded just after 2:10 a.m. Thursday to a fire alarm at the Park Wellington Condominiums, 3401 Carriageway. Police arrived first with residents evacuating and smoke seen on the first floor. The smoke was located coming from the recycling center in the underground parking garage. When the first police officer got to the recycling center, he reported a sprinkler system activated with flames still showing in the dumpster.

Firefighter/paramedics arrived and extinguished the fire and ventilated the garage. Firefighter/paramedics also had to ventilate floors two through five, where a light haze was in the air on each floor. Firefighters also inspected the chute above the dumpster.

No reports of any injuries.
