Attempted Burglary on North Belmont

Arlington Heights police responded about 10:30 p.m. Thursday to a report of an attempted burglary in the 700 block of North Belmont Avenue. A rear door was forcibly entered to a home. While investigating the case and canvassing the neighborhood, police noticed a second house with an open door. At first police suspected a second burglary or attempt, but the second residence turned out to be a case of improper security.

At about 1:30 a.m. Friday police were called for a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the house that had the rear door forcibly entered. A woman was reported sitting inside of a van in front of the a house in the 700 block of North Belmont. A sedan pulled up to the van and both vehicles left as police arrived to investigate. Both vehicles were stopped near Belmont and Oakton, but the incident turned out to be some type of motorist assist.
