Lora Hunt Sentenced 18 Months – Guilty of Reckless Homicide for Painting Her Nails, Causing Crash that Killed Anita Zaffke

Lake County Judge Fred Foreman sentenced Lora Hunt, 49, of Morris, Illinois to served 18 months in prison. She will be allowed to leave jail to work, attend counseling sessions, or provide community service — 240 hours, which are also part of the sentence. She spend nights in jail and then have 30 months probation.

Motorcycle driver Anita Zaffke was killed when she was rear-ended by a driver who was allegedly painting her nails. Lora Hunt ‘a distracted driver’ ran a red light and crashed into the bike just before 6 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Route 12 and Old McHenry Road in Lake Zurich.
