A Swim Ban in is effect today for five Chicago beaches — 31st Street, Oak Street, North Avenue, Hollywood Avenue and Leone beaches.

The Swim Ban goes into effect when water conditions may be hazardous due to severe weather or high E. coli bacteria levels.

A Swim Advisory went into effect for nine beaches — Calumet, Rainbow, South Shore, 63rd Street, 12th Street, Montrose Avenue, Foster Avenue, Hartigan and Jarvis Avenue.

A Swim Advisory urges the public to take caution when there may be an increased risk of illness due to high E. coli levels or weather may affect water quality or swimming conditions.
