3-Year-Old Boy Killed, Two Injured: Prospect Heights House Fire on South Maple

Prospect Heights firefighters and Illinois State Fire Marshal investigating house fire on South Maple in Prospect Heights.

Prospect Heights firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:20 a.m. Saturday to the scene of a house fire with a couch on fire in the 200 bock of South Maple in Prospect Heights. Prospect Heights police arrived first on the scene and reported a 4-year-old trapped in the house. Rescue ambulances from fire departments from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Glenview and Mount Prospect requested at the scene to assist Prospect Heights.

One adult and two children were transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital (one patient age unknown) and Northwest Community Hospital (two patients ages unknown).

Alex Jedd, a 3-year-old male child injured in the fire, is reported to have died.


The Illinois State Fire Marshal was called to the scene for investigation.
