Police Activity After Mount Prospect Man, 81, Threatens to Shoot Himself in His Home

Neighborhood where 81 year-old man was in standoff with police after a suicidal threat.

Mount Prospect police responded about 7:25 p.m. Tuesday to the 1100 block of Meadow Lane to a report of a man threatening to shoot himself. The 81 year-old man’s family members were able to evacuate the home before police arrived. Mount Prospect police activated a NIPAS (Northern Illinois Police Alarm System) alert which brought negotiators and SWAT personnel to the scene. The armed barricade incident was safely resolved by police negotiators about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
