Prosecutors say Mayne and Michael “Madman” Pedini staked out the Hells Angels’ clubhouse in Canaan last year and shot a member there repeatedly. The Hell’s Angels shooting victim did not die. He was found shot in his pickup truck at the entrance to the Hells Angels clubhouse on Route 23 in Canaan.

The Outlaws Motorcycle Club, incorporated as the American Outlaws Association or its acronym, A.O.A.,is a motorcycle gang and organized crime syndicate that was formed in McCook, Illinois in 1935. It has approximately 200 chapters in the United States, Canada, Australia, Asia, and Europe.

The Outlaws Motorcycle Club was established out of Matilda’s Bar on old Route 66 in McCook, Illinois a southwestern suburb of Chicago in 1935. The club stayed together during World War II, but like most organizations at that time, their activities were limited. In May 1946, the Outlaws attended the first major post-war motorcycle event in the midwest, which was held at Soldier Field, Chicago.

On the July 4,1964 the “Gipsy Outlaws” from Milwaukee became the second chapter to join the club. Though they had had no former contacts with the Milwaukee Club, the “Gypsy Outlaws” from Louisville followed, joining in August at the Springfield Motorraces. The “Outlaw Nation” was formed with Chicago as the Mother Chapter.

The A.O.A. (American Outlaws Association) was formed on January 1, 1965. The backpatch of the club, the skull and crossed pistons, was named “Charlie”.
