Rolling Meadows Fire Department responded to a fire in an apartment building at 4735 Arbor Drive just after 6:00 a.m. Sunday. An activated fire alarm at 6:05 a.m. alerted residents to heavy smoke in the hallway and main entrance. Rolling Meadows Fire Department called for a Box Alarm to the first level, which brought mutual aid from fire departments from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Mount Prospect, Palatine, Schaumburg and others.

The fire was struck out about 20 minutes after the box alarm was requested — about 45 minutes after the original fire alarm. No injuries were reported at the fire, but firefighters rescued people from balconies because of the heavy smoke in the hallways.
