Brazen Attempt at Kidnapping One of Five Boys Walking Near Dunham Park in Chicago

Two men tried to kidnap a 10-year-old boy from a Northwest Side street Friday night about 8:30 p.m. near Dunham Park in the 4500 block of North Narragansett Avenue. The neighborhood is just east of Ridgemoor Country Club.

A group of five 10-year-old boys were walking near Dunham Park when a navy blue minivan began following them. The driver got out of his minivan and tried to pull one of the boys into the van, but the boy broke free and ran home.

Police said there were two male/Hispanics in the van. The offenders are described as 20 to 30 years old, medium complexion with braided brown hair. Each subject was approximately 6′ and 190 to 220 lbs.

One man was wearing a black shirt with red stripes and blue jeans.

Police are asking citizens with information about the suspects or the incident to call Grand Central Area detectives at 312-746-8282.
